A Romantic Escape at Tŵr y Felin, St David’s – Pembrokeshire

Before the chaos of Christmas descended, Nicky and I made a break for Tŵr y Felin, a sleek and stylish haven in the heart of St David’s, Pembrokeshire. Part art gallery, part luxury hotel. It gave us the perfect excuse to slow down, soak up some culture, and indulge in seriously good food. Here’s how our weekend of romance, relaxation, and a bit of fizz played out.

St David’s is a vibe. It’s officially Britain’s smallest city but feels more like a picturesque village that just happens to have an awe-inspiring cathedral at its heart. We took a leisurely stroll through its streets, popping into indie shops and soaking up the fresh Pembrokeshire air. The nearby coastline was calling, but honestly? This trip was about indulgence, and Tŵr y Felin delivered that in spades.

The Rooms: Bubble Baths & Movie Nights

The room was the definition of cosy luxury. A sumptuous king-size bed and mood lighting set the romantic tone, but let’s talk about the bath. It’s huge, and yes, I filled it with bubbles, grabbed a glass of something chilled, and settled in to watch The Holiday. Meanwhile, Nicky had claimed the sofa with floor to ceiling views of the coast on the left and rugged green land to the right, he sipped the tea marveling at how quiet it was—no traffic, just the soothing sounds of the Pembrokeshire breeze.

The Food: Coastal Flavors and a Sancerre Love Story

The food at Blas Restaurant is a reason to visit in itself. Let me set the scene: you’re by the sea, so naturally, you’re ordering the fish. And trust me, you must. The dishes were fresh, inventive, and melt-in-the-mouth good. There were art on the walls and art on the plate, every element of the dish were carefully placed. But here’s the pro tip: pair it with a glass (or two) of Sancerre. That crisp, delicious white wine was the perfect match. We also couldn’t resist starting the day with a Welsh breakfast in bed—local sausages, and eggs cooked to perfection, black pudding, all the trimmings. Delish.

The Art: Gallery Goals

Art is everywhere at Tŵr y Felin. The hotel boasts over 100 pieces of original work, with bold street art by Bambi sitting alongside stunning creations by local artists. Each hallway felt like stepping into a curated gallery. We spent hours just wandering around, spotting new details, and choosing our favorites (mine was the characters of st davids captured in a pastel like colour that made the piano room pop ).
